Introduction

We have an opportunity for a Technologist to join our Information Communication Technology team.

In this role you will be responsible for helping to transform and implement our Group IT roadmap across Ultra. This role will be pivotal to ensuring our IT provisioning is fit for purpose and is kept up to date, taking into account emerging security and system updates and changes. The ICT team’s aim is to ensure that our employees have a fantastic user experience.

We have two levels of Technologists available and the responsibilities and minimum requirements are separated below. The level of role you will be considered for will be dependent on your knowledge, background and experience.

Key Responsibilities 

Level III Technologist responsibilities

  • Applying configurations to multiple assigned systems;
  • Proactively checking and monitoring the performance of various systems;
  • Serving as the system design authority for a large scale system;
  • Providing solution architecture for a capability that involves multiple aspects and is not achieved with one off-the-shelf solution;
  • Solving and troubleshooting difficult technical problems and configurations.

Level IV Technologist responsibilities

  • Level III responsibilities
  • Serving as the system design authority for a complex underpinning technology (e.g. Corporate Network, comprehensive cloud tenancy etc.).
  • Providing solution architecture for a complex capability (e.g. Information Gateways meeting new capability requirements).
  • Solving and troubleshooting advanced and complex technical problems and configurations.

In addition, for both levels you will be expected to

  • Ensure your knowledge is captured and shared amongst the team
  • Undertake any other related duties as and when required

Skills and Qualifications Required

For Level III Technologist,

  • Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • Significant prior proven experience in an IT troubleshooting environment working with at least two of the following systems
    • Active Directory
    • Mail Systems
    • Firewalls & VPNs
    • Web platforms
    • SQL databases
    • NoSQL databases
  • Significant prior proven experience working with at least with least one scripting or development language (e.g. PowerShell, .NET, Python, Pearl and troubleshooting technical problems, designing and implementing systems, embracing and using current technology.
  • Works well as part of a team but also unsupervised

For Level IV Technologist we are looking for the following in addition to those required for a Level III Technologist (see above)

  • Extensive prior proven experience in an IT troubleshooting environment
  • Significant prior proven experience in a similar role working with the following systems
    • Active Directory
    • Mail Systems
    • Firewalls & VPNs
    • Web platforms
    • SQL databases
    • NoSQL databases
  • Prior proven experience working with at least one scripting or development language (e.g. PowerShell, .NET, Python, Perl) and troubleshooting technical problems, designing and implementing systems, embracing and using current technology
  • Works well as part of a team but also unsupervised
